Pottery from Instanbul

I celebrated New Year's Eve in Istanbul, Turkey and I was fascinated by its beauty. Of course I was impressed by the beautiful ceramics they have.

Iznik Pottery

The Turkish pottery is called Iznik and takes is name from a city in western Anatolia where it was produced and decorated during 15th century. The decoration is very rich and initially was only painted in blue.

In late 16th century colors became part of decoration and the damascus decoration appeared. I love this decoration that is inspired by flowers and birds.

Do you like Turkish pottery? I love it!
